HISTORY

The Stewart of Appin clan, also known as ‘ The Loyal Clan’  are descendants of Sir James Stewart of Perstoun, grandson of the 4th High Stewart of Scotland. The Appin clan has been the west highland branch of the Stewart clan since the 15th century.   Robert Louis Stevenson wrote about  the infamous Appin murder  in his novel ‘Kidnapped’ .

The Stewart of Appin tartan is a moss green and azure blue with red pattern.
