Description

Like all Dress Tartans, this goes back on the Arisaid, a garment worn by Highland women in the old days, made out of tartans which differed from those used by the men in that they were woven on a white ‘ground’ and the bright stripes were usually narrower and wider apart.
In the reign of Queen Victoria, a tartan came to her notice in Balmoral, similar to the Dress Stewart except for a red stripe across the white. This was subsequently called the Victoria tartan. It is said to have been based on an earlier earrasaid.
This is led to a number of tartans being produced, in which the dominant colour of the usual sett is replaced with white, the results being classed as ‘Dress’

Made in Scotland.
