HISTORY

The MacLeod  clan is descended from Leod, the son of Olaf the Black, the Norse Kind of MAn and the Isles in the 13th century. Leod married the daughter and heiress of MacRaild on Skye around 1220 who bought him Castle Dunvegan, he also inherited Lewis and Harris on his fathers death. Leod had almost full control over the whole of the hebrides in 1263 following the defeat of King Haakon of Norway.

The MacLeod  tartan is a dark mix of blue and green with black and yellow and red stripes.
