HISTORY
The first Cameron of Erracht was Ewewn, son of Ewen Cameron of Lochiel and his second wife Marjory MacKintosh in the early 16th century. By the 1745, Donald Cameron, 7th of Erracht was second in command of the Camerons at Glenfinnan as Prince Charles raised his standard. The 5 arrows on the crest represent the 5 branches Camerons of Letterfinlay, Camerons of Glen Nevis, Camerons of Callart and Lundavra, Camerons of Erracht, Camerons of Clunes.
The Erracht Cameron tartan was worn by the 79th Regiment in the 18th century. There are many alternative Cameron of Erracht tartan setts associated with the clan.
