HISTORY
Back in the 13th & 14th century the Baird family owned lands in Lanarkshire and the Barony of Cambuskenneth however later spread northwards to Aberdeenshire. Head of the Baird clan, John Baird was awarded as a knight baronet and later became Lord of Session with the title of Lord Newbyth. Sir David Baird, had a long military career at the Cape of Good Hope and the siege of Copenhagen. After the death of Sir John Moore at Corunna he assumed chief commander of the army before his death in 1829.
